Hobe Sound

Hobe Sound

A Southeast Florida destination offering all of the charm of a small beach town.

Welcome to Hobe Sound

Hemmed in by the Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge to the north, the gloriously wild Jonathan Dickinson State Park to the south, a bit of swampy farmland to the west, and the Indian River to the east, Hobe Sound is on an island without literally being an island. That is not to say, however, that this area lacks extravagance.

You’ll find grand houses with large boats in riverfront slips, while the other side of the Indian River hosts a storied mass of mansions known as Jupiter Island. Yet, Hobe offers a more low-key lifestyle that many prefer to those in more bustling areas. It is quiet, off the beaten path, and surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Simply, Hobe Sound is a small-town South Florida jewel. As of 2021, just under 15,000 people call Hobe Sound their home.

Named for the geysers of seawater that reach heights of up to 50 feet from its craggy limestone shore, Blowing Rocks Preserve is one of the area’s most iconic and unique places to visit and home to a number of endangered plant and animal species. Hobe Sound Beach, one of the many hidden gems of the area, is another family favorite, boasting a picturesque, uncrowded shoreline and a guarded swimming area to enjoy the turquoise waters of the Atlantic.
