Exciting New Changes Coming to Northwood

Redevelopment Bill Ryan September 4, 2024

On August 14th, the city of West Palm Beach announced that the bid package for The Currie Park Redevelopment Project is nearly complete. Flagler Drive and 23rd Street are the west and north boundaries, respectively, of Currie Park. The Currie Park Redevelopment Project will be one of the finest waterfront destinations in southeast Florida.

The OLIN Design Studio is collaborating with Chen Moore Associates. According to the OLIN website, "Currie Park's redevelopment is focused on creating a vibrant urban park that weaves together art, ecology, and community activities along the water’s edge." Further, they continue, "The master planning effort for the 13.6-acre site, led by the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency and approved by the City of West Palm Beach in June 2021, reflects collaboration between the design team and multiple stakeholders including members of the local community, City representatives, CRA leadership, and representatives from nearby schools and non-profits."

Programming will include events, gardens, play areas, fitness activities and more (see graphic below).

Already, Northwood is a neighborhood on the rise, both in real estate re-development and housing values. The New Currie Park will reinforce the decision by so many to locate here. The vibrancy of the Project and the growth in new households promise a bright future for the burgeoning neighborhood.
